Advocacy, Representation and Negotiation

Mandurah Hunter Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (Mandurah HIBC) advocates on behalf of our members on any matter that affects their business and which is in the interest of the Indigenous Business Sector in the Hunter. Our advocacy role is always carried in an effort achieve economic empowerment for members of the Chamber.

Membership of Mandurah HIBC gives Indigenous Business members a united and effective voice, as the Chamber works alongside key representative bodies such as the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, the Indigenous Business Council of Australia (IBCA) and the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council (AIMSC) to address concerns and issues across the Indigenous Business Sector.

Together, with our members and partnerships locally, nationally and internationally we will support the development of strategies and solutions to overcome barriers identified by Indigenous businesses and provide solutions to government & industry on how to work with the Indigenous Business Sector to address.

We make it easier for major companies and Government to conduct business with Indigenous Businesses / Contractors in the Hunter by allowing them access to our member supply chain list.

A United Voice

The Chamber network facilitates a forum for members to share their experience and to discuss specific opportunities and challenges and to provide them with a united voice to bring concerns, issues and ideas for improvement to the attention of industry and government.

Government access

Membership provides access and engagement with government at Local, State and Federal levels and input into policies of importance to the Indigenous Business Sector and industry. This is achieved through the partnerships developed by Mandurah HIBC with the NSWICC and other Key Peak Representative bodies existing to advocate, educate and represent the Sector and by the Chamber’s active participation on relevant Boards, Government Working parties and Task forces.

Sharing ideas and resources

Mandurah HIBC is a culturally welcoming place to talk business, share ideas and resources.

Lobbying to Resource the Sector

Mandurah HIBC will lobby to resource the Indigenous Business Sector enabling increased targeted support aimed at identifying procurement opportunities, capacity building, coaching and training. Resourcing the Chamber and sector will assist us to support our members to take advantage of procurement opportunities and education on the advantages of second tiering and sub contracting.

Guidance to Government Programs

Mandurah HIBC will continually develop our partnerships with government agencies charged with delivering programs to support and enhance Indigenous economic & enterprise development. This will be achieved by maintaining our knowledge of government programs to support Indigenous business and channeling this information to our members across the Hunter region. Additionally the Chamber will be open to government agencies as a forum to promote those programs to our Member supply chain and local communities.

Capacity Building and Sharing Knowledge - Aim for best practice

The Chamber will support members to keep their knowledge of the industry to a high standard, providing seminars, workshops and newsletters to keep Indigenous Business Owners informed.

Promotion

Mandurah Hunter Indigenous Business Chamber will promote our members and their products and services to Industry and Government and showcase Hunter Indigenous Business success stories. We will work with members to guide them on promotional strategies to enhance their business and provide opportunities for promotion through our website, newsletter, functions and events.

Our Aim: Mandurah Hunter Indigenous Chamber of Commerce aims to support and enhance the employment, economic and social prosperity of Indigenous peoples across the Hunter region by encouraging, supporting and building the capacity of Indigenous Businesses.
